Discover Aragats
Aragats village & Aparan
A mountain village at the foot of Armenia’s highest peak, an hour from Yerevan: clean air, old churches, fresh bread and the trail to the summit.
Why visit
A village where the mountain is part of every view.
Aragats is a village of about 2,800 people (2011 census) in Aparan municipality, Aragatsotn province, on the road north from Yerevan. It lies at the northern foot of Mount Aragats, and the summits are in view from its streets and gardens.
Summers here are cool when Yerevan is hot, winters bring deep snow, and the night sky is dark enough to see the stars. It is also where the classic routes to the northern summit of Aragats begin.
